Attractive with a sunshine babe persona, Michelle Chia is definitely within Singapore¡¯s new league of modern and talented artistes. Discovered at a tender age of 6, she was a lovable child actor who later made audience sit up and notice her when she played the role of Ma Jie convincingly at the age of 15, in the classic documentary-drama serial VOW OF CELIBRACY¡¶ÊáÆðµÄËêÔ¡·.
Upon completion of her tertiary education, she was naturally invited to join then Television Corporation of Singapore (now MediaCorp), where she further broadened her artistic skills by trying her hands at hosting. Quick-witted and a fast-learner, Michelle charmed and bonded with the audience. She became a popular figure with the public who voted her as a Top Ten Most Popular Female Artiste in 1999. She went on to hone her hosting skills, entertaining audience with her perfect comic wit and chemistry with veteran comedian-cum-host Adrian Pang in YUMMY KING and Gurmit Singh in OUR MAKAN PLACES: LOST AND FOUND. In 2006, Michelle also co-hosted WANNA CHALLENGE (a popular China CCTV variety programme) with China veteran host Zhu Jun. The programme was telecast in both Singapore and China. 2006 also marked a special year for Michelle Chia, where for the first time, she co-hosted with Gurmit Singh for the prestigious pre-parade of the National Day Parade.
Effectively bilingual, Michelle is not one to rest on her laurels. She is always ready to take on new challenges, be it an English Drama role, or dancing sexy salsa for a charity event or doing thrilling sports like wakeboarding or learning a difficult musical instrument like zither.
Blessed with a good figure and wonderful skin, Michelle is a favourite with advertisers ¡ª the most unforgettable being the LUX girl for their 2-year shampoo advertising campaign. Michelle is currently the spokesperson for Bonia.
